Safe for Seniors

Research indicates weight loss surgery is just as safe for seniors as it is for younger patients.

The NIH recommends the age of 65 as the cutoff for weight loss surgery, but this is apparently an “artificial standard.”

After reviewing the records of 50,000 weight loss surgery patients, researchers have concluded that weight loss surgery is safe for seniors.

  1. weightloss says:

People don’t truly understand the risks of being overweight. Why do most want to lose weight? Most would say to look better. Looking better certainly is a benefit of losing weight, but this shouldn’t be the sole reason to lose weight. There is a 1000 pound gorilla in the room and it’s often ignored. Being overweight for a long period of time kills thousands of people each year.

The majority of health problems are related to being overweight. You can take pills for the symptoms of these problems, or you can lose weight to address the cause.
